jimpster s much loved eel pie island track first graced the coveted 10 years of systematic compilation from last year. now, after widespread love, label boss marc romboy has commissioned a set of remixes to give the track an extra lease of life for the coming summer months. the originals, locomotive esque, slow-mo jam is taken on first by keinemusik main-man and cocoon favourite adam port. the german brings techno and minimal sensibilities to the fore but with extra tempo and swing. a mid tempo beat drives the track as atmospheric flourishes and nuanced samples create a lighter and breezier feel. an added vocal adds a hazy dose of ethereal pleasure, as adam creates another slice of musical magic. fresh from his objektivity release, hyenah offers a version of eel pie island that brings a chiming, plonking vibe, wood block percussion and bongos, all fluctuating in a sea of tribal beats, deep house and delicious sub bass. another triumph for systematic.

london based imprint bordel ensemble (limited series only) is back after one year with yet another ep by lodee gruv, alias of one of the label�s founder. the second release is stamped 003 as the bordel002 will be a compilation of music by all the artists of the label coming out later in 2016. two side / three tracks ep. on side a, lodee gruv confirms once again his style with an atmospheric raw and floor friendly 8 minutes rhythm . on side b he takes it up a notch with 95% analog generated drums and baseline groove toped by a progression of 3 notes sample melody leading to an slightly emotional pattern. the second track of side b is a lodee gruv signature, deeper and tripier somehow with samples twicked into different elements backed up by a gimmick changing low end drums. definitely a journey into lodee gruv�s mind and bordel ensemble spirit.

after coming with a pretty great electronic soft jazz number on the first release, distant works begins to define the mission behind the label with the second offering-a synth, italo-esque 5-cut ep that would only come from somewhere in the netherlands these days. the label bosses are clearly up to go to distant places to deliver the sounds. it s a very impressive statement and raises our interest on future releases.

favorite recordings presents this new official album reissue of shine the light of love by googie & tom coppola: a beautiful soul album sublimely produced with a sweet la groove! thomas wilkinson coppola (aka tom coppola) is a pianist and arranger, known for being a principal member of the funky prog-jazz group air (not to be confused with the french duo). he began working as a musician in manhattan in the 1960s, where he met carolyn brooks (aka googie coppola). if they only released one self-titled album with air in 1970, and shine the light of love as a duo in 1980, these two amazing talents have collaborated with artists such as herbie mann, lenny white, flora purim, ray barreto or jeremy steig to name just a few.

jami bassols has been a close member of hivern since its beginnings as one half of aster. now, following the release of noche/ templo, his two acclaimed edits for nvh, he returns to the label with his solo debut as jmii. in thrills, the barcelonian producer displays a sound that s equally raw and lively, with a very personal sense of quirkiness. the title track is jmii s most expansive production to date. an uplifting house number built around an elastic bassline and sprinkled with a bubbly arpeggiated melody, echoed vocal snips and ravey pads. bailar is a sort of lunatic take on chi-house, with a crude bassline, psychotic organ chords and feverish percussion coming together to form an ultra-infectious groove. tightbrass follows a similar path, but conducted by frenzied synthetic horns that bring to mind a marching band of manic robots. in his remix, comeme s christian s. brings the track to a darker territory, reducing it to it s core elements and focusing in a nasty bassline that will for sure cause serious damage in the dancefloors in the upcoming months.

qnete�s ep is not the question and not the answer. it�s in a hiatus between hopes and fears, still maintaining an eager energy. within a short period of time all tracks were recorded straight to tape, raw and improvised. they remember the sun bath before the storm, when you feel that something is about to roll over you. they express the urge and need to sometimes just jump into the cold water to face what�s coming next. they linger in the nervous energy when you�re lost and don�t know what to expect. but they also talk about the hope of finding a safe place.

anopolis are a collective of four thessaloniki based producers coming together for their second release on lower parts. three tracks of electro acid tinged techno with some serious drum machine tinkering. also comes backed with an incredible hieroglyphic being remix!

label boss luca agnelli is back home on his etruria with this four tracker ep while working on many collabs with labels such as soma, drumcode, planet rhythm, tiptop audio and more. the ep contains 2 original tracks and 2 amazing remixes by 2000 and one, coming from the banging track kawasaki and hiroaki iizouka lately released by self reflection, theory and tresor. the record starts with biosphere a strong groove with an hypnotic delayed synth bleep topped by a techno synth chord which will blow up your mind. next is 2000 and one remix, the dutch super producer chose to keep that very strong techno synth and layer a solid 909 based beat under it. dance-floor killer, handle with care!

on silicon tare, the sci-fi story that seth haley, who records as com truise, began on the galactic melt lp and continued on the wave 1 ep takes a dark turn. at the conclusion of wave 1, the protagonist, earth�s first synthetic astronaut, successfully makes contact with the far-off wave 1 colony but, once he does, things get fuzzy. he falls in love, there is a war coming. a story that began in hope and dreams of discovery ends on an uncertain note. change is in the air.
